Staff Selection Commission has released the number of candidates who applied for the SSC CHSL 2022 Notification. The total number of candidates who applied is 3,235,474. The category-wise number of candidates is as follows:

SSC CHSL Educational Qualification (as on 01/08/2023)

For LDC/ JSA, PA/ SA, DEO (except DEOs in C&AG): The candidates who are planning to appear in CHSL 2023 exam must have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
For Data Entry Operator (DEO) in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.

SSC CHSL 2023 Notification: Selection Process

Staff Selection Commission has changed the SSC CHSL 2023 selection process from 3 stages to 2 stages only. The candidates applying for the recruitment process must go through the change in the new selection process as well as the exam pattern mentioned below. The SSC CHSL 2023 Selection process will be based on the following. The computer-based examination will be conducted in two tiers as follows:

  • Tier 1
  • Tier 2

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) start conducting the Combined Higher Secondary Level(CHSL) in two levels for various posts:

Tier – II Objective Multiple Choice + Skill Test & Typing Test
Tier-II will include three sections having two modules each

Before beginning the SSC CHSL preparation, it is important to make note of changes in the exam pattern and syllabus. The modifications to SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2023 are given below:

• SSC CHSL 2023 Tier 1 exam will be conducted in online mode.

• Introduction of a descriptive paper of 100 marks within 60 minutes in pen and paper mode.

• Reduction in the time limit for examination of Tier -I from 75 minutes to 60 minutes.

• Tier II will include Objective Multiple Choice + Skill Test & Typing Test.

• There is no Tier 3 Exam from SSC CHSL 2023 onwards.

 

Since the SSC CHSL is comprised of 3 different levels, we must deal with their syllabus independently.

This is an objective exam that will be conducted online. There are 4 sections in the Tier 1 exam of SSC CHSL 2023, with 100 questions that account for a total of 200 marks. The subject-wise details are given below:

Important Points:
  • The exam will be based on Multiple Choice Questions.
  • 2 marks will be awarded for each right answer.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer in all sections.
  • Marks scored by candidates in Tier-I will be normalized.
  • No sectional cut-offs will be there.
  • The exam duration is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped.

SSC CHSL 2023 Skill Test for Data Entry Operators (Only)

The skill test or computer proficiency test will be conducted to check the typing skills of the candidates and whether they are eligible– to work on computers. Some points focusing on the SSC CHSL 2023 Skill test are as follows:

  • The medium of the Typing Test will be Hindi and English.
  • No candidate is exempted from appearing in the Skill Test as it is mandatory.
  • This stage is qualifying in nature i.e. marks will not be added to the final merit.
  • English medium Typing speed -> 35 words per minute (w.p.m.)
  • Hindi medium Typing speed -> 30 words per minute (w.p.m.)
  • Skill Test for Data Entry Operator (DEO) post will be conducted where data entry speed will be tested.
