SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern 2020
SBI Clerk Prelims Exam will comprise of 3 sections, with a total of 100 marks and a total allotted time of 60 minutes. There will be a sectional time limit in the exam. There are no sectional cutoffs in both Prelims and the Main exam of SBI Clerk this year. You can go through the exam pattern of SBI Clerk Prelims exam from the table below:

Here are some important points which one must keep in mind for the Prelims exam of SBI Clerk 2020:
- There will be negative marking for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th of the mark assigned for the question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- No minimum qualifying marks for an individual subject as well as for aggregate (overall) are prescribed.
- An adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank (approximately 10 times the numbers of vacancies. subject to availability) will be shortlisted for the Main Examination from the list of all candidates arranged in descending order of aggregate marks scored.
- There is no sectional cutoff in the prelims exam of SBI Clerk 2020.
- The disciples would have the option to attempt the online exam of SBI Clerk in Hindi or English language (except for English section).
- There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer marked by the student.

English Language Syllabus for SBI Clerk Prelims 2020

- The Reading Comprehension in the prelims exam will most likely be story-based, including questions from Vocabulary. The level of the topic is expected to range between easy to moderate. However, the students are advised to practice Economy and Social issues based comprehensions as well in order to be prepared for the unexpected surprises of SBI.
- The question from Cloze Test, again, is expected to be story-based. Regular practice of new as well as old pattern-based questions will help students easily score in this topic.
- The questions from Spotting Errors will mostly be based on grammatical mistakes. A thorough study of the basic grammar rules (and exceptions), followed by regular practice is crucial to solving the questions of this topic. The questions from this topic may be asked in a number of ways.
- In order to solve the questions on Sentence Improvement, understanding the rules of grammar and sentence structuring is important.
- Questions from Para Jumbles will most likely be based on the old pattern, where you need to form a coherent passage by determining the correct sequence of sentences from the jumbled ones given in the question.
- Fill in the blanks questions are expected to be double filler-based. A decent vocabulary and proper practice of the topic are important to score better.
- Questions of Vocabulary may either be Synonym/ Antonym or Idiom & Phrase-based. So prepare them accordingly.

- Questions of Number Series are expected to be asked from common patterns like the combination of arithmetic operations, squares, double step, etc based. So, identify the commonly used patterns of number series and practice them regularly to solve these questions in less time.
- Simplification/ Approximation questions usually require the application of basic BODMAS rules. So, practice questions based on them regularly.
- Based on the trend followed in the previous bank exams, you can expect Quadratic equation-based questions as well in some of the slots of SBI Clerk Prelims 2020. Practice formula as well as factorization based questions of quadratic equations properly.
- Data Interpretation is a very important topic of the SBI Clerk exam. Questions from this topic are mostly based on common operations like addition/ subtraction /multiplication/ division, ratio, average, etc. Students are advised to have a thorough practice of Tabular/Line/Bar graphs for the prelims exam of SBI Clerk. Make sure that you check the graphs properly and interpret the correct values before solving the questions of this topic.
- The Miscellaneous Arithmetic questions will be asked from topics like Problem on ages, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Partnership, Speed Time & Distance, Pipes & Cisterns, Mensuration, Boats & Streams, Probability, Mixtures, Simple & Compound Interest, etc. Understand the basic concepts and formulas used for solving these questions and practice them on a regular basis.

- Questions of Inequality are quite easy to attempt and direct inequality based questions are expected to be asked in the prelims exam of SBI Clerk.
- Understand all the cases of Syllogism properly in order to solve these questions with ease.
- There is no particular formula for solving Series Based questions of the reasoning section. Practice the alphanumeric and numeric based series questions thoroughly to score full marks in this topic.
- Sentence Coding based questions are expected to be asked in the prelims exam of SBI Clerk 2020 So, prepare it accordingly.
