Assistant Loco Pilot

Technicians

Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)

Previously known as Assistant Driver.

  • Job profile: He assists Loco Pilot in Driving or piloting the train. Job require continuous attention and high degree of responsiveness. Your response to situations are tested by an Aptitude test. You will assist Driver in performing his duties including calling out signal as soon as one is sighted, fine-tuning Loco ,attending minor repairs of the Loco.
  • The strenuous nature of the job is compensated by allowances of which the important one is Running Allowance. You are paid Running Allowance based on the monthly kilometres on the run.
  • Career path : ALP’s next promotion is Sr. ALP followed by LP. After becoming LP one can write also exams for Power Controller, Crew Controller, Loco Foreman (Loco supervisor) . These posts have the added advantage of getting Running Allowance without actually running.
  • Qualification : Matriculation or equivalent undre 10+2 system and Course Completed Act Apprentice or ITI recognised by SCVT/NCVT or Diploma in Mecahnical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engg recognised by AICTE or higher qualification.
  • Selection Process : Written Examination followed by Aptitude Test and Document Verification.

Scale of pay

Level 02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of `19900/- plus other allowances as admissible.

 

VERY IMPORTANT POINTS 

 

1.Candidates should ensure that they possess/fulfill all eligibility conditions prescribed for the post(s) as on the
closing date for submitting application. Candidates waiting for results of prescribed educational qualification
should not apply

2.Stages of Exam: There shall be two stages examination (First stage CBT and Second Stage CBT) common for ALP and Technician. In addition , candidates who have opted for ALP and qualified in Second Stage CBT have to undergo Computer Based Aptitude Test (AT). Marks will be normalized in all the stages of exam

3. Age (as on 01.07.2018): 18 – 28 Years – Refer para 5.1 for age relaxations.

4. Negative Marking: There shall be negative marking for incorrect answers in First and Second Stage CBT. 1/3rd of themarks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer. There shall be no negative marking for Computer Based Aptitude Test.

5. Candidates should have their own mobile number and valid & active personal email id and keep them active for the entire duration of recruitment as RRBs shall send all recruitment related communications only through SMS and
email till the recruitment is completely over. RRBs will not entertain any request for change of mobile number and
e-mail address at any stage.

6. Candidates should enter their Name, Father’s Name and Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/SSLC/High School Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate ONLY.

7. Free Sleeper Class Railway Pass admissible to SC/ST candidates will be part of e-call letter when they are called for
various stages of selection viz. CBT/AT / DV (as applicable) as per the details of valid caste certificate furnished in
ONLINE application .

8. Selected candidates for the post of ALP and Technicians will have to undergo training wherever prescribed and during training period only stipend will be paid as applicable.

9. Candidates who have been debarred by any RRB/RRC either for life or for a specified period which is not completed should NOT apply for this notification. Their candidature will be rejected during any stage of recruitment as and when detected.

10. Applications are to be submitted ONLINE through RRB websites listed in Para 19.0 ONLY. One application ONLY is required to be submitted for all the notified posts in this CEN. Any attempt by a candidate to submit more than one application against this CEN shall result in disqualification and debarment
