1. ICICI Bank’s board has appointed an additional
(independent) director of the bank for five years —
Radhakrishnan Nair.
Note: According to ICICI Bank, the appointment is the
subject to approval of shareholders. Mr. Nair is also an
independent director of three subsidiaries of the bank
‘ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company’, ‘ICICI
Prudential Trust’ and ‘ICICI Securities Primary
Dealership’.

2. Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has
unveiled with a detailed framework for risk based Know
Your Client (KYC) documentation of foreign portfolio
investors (FPIs).
Note: In an FPI structured as a company, a person owning
25% stake would be considered the beneficial owner
(BO). If it originates from a high-risk authority, any
person owning 10% stake or more in such FPI would be
considered a BO.All investors from such jurisdictions
would have to comply with the KYC requirement for
category-III FPIs.

3. India has slipped by three spots to 11th position in the
FDI Confidence Index 2018 of global consultancy firm –A
T Kearney.
Note: The US remained in the top position for investment
intentions with Canada rising to the second position
while Germany fell to the third.India fell out of the top 10
for the first time since 2015.

4. Former chief economic adviser Ashok Lahiri has been
appointed as full-time member of the 15th Finance
Commission.
Note: He will be accorded the status of the Minister of
State. In November 2017, The Fifteenth Finance
Commission of India (XV-FC) has been constituted to give
recommendations for five fiscal years commencing on 1
April 2020.The main tasks of the commission were to
“strengthen cooperative federalism, improve the quality
of public spending and help protect fiscal stability”.

5. The 12th informal meeting of SAARC Finance Ministers
was held in Manila, Philippines.
Note: The meeting attended by the Finance
Ministers/Heads of Delegations from the SAARC member
states. The Finance Ministers/Heads of Delegation briefed
the meeting about the current status of economic
progress achieved by their countries.

6. EPFO Introduces ‘View Pension Passbook’ Service
through — Umang App.
Note: On clicking ‘View Passbook’ option, it requires PPO
Number and Date of Birth information to be entered by
the pensioner. The facility to download the financial year
wise complete pass book details is also available.

7. Uday Kotak has been redesignated as Managing
Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Note: Earlier Mr. Kotak was executive Vice Chairman and
Managing Director(MD). Kotak Mahindra Bank is an
Indian private sector bank headquartered in Mumbai,
Maharashtra, India. In February 2003, Reserve Bank of
India (RBI) gave the licence to Kotak Mahindra Finance
Ltd. to carry on banking business.

8. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has projected India
7.3% to remain the fastest growing Asian nation in 2018-
19.

9. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF),
India will be the fastest-growing major economy in 2018
with a growth rate of 7.4%.
Note: The IMF’s Asia and Pacific Regional Economic
Outlook report, India was recovering from the effects of
demonetization and the introduction of the Goods and
Services Tax (GST). The recovery is expected to be
underpinned by a rebound from transitory shocks as well
as robust private consumption.

10. US retail giant Walmart will buy 77% controlling stake in
India’s largest e-commerce startup ‘Flipkart’ for USD 16
billion.
Note: It will be the country’s largest acquisition and the
world’s biggest purchase of an ecommerce company .

11. The 15th Finance Commission has constituted 6-member
advisory council to advise and assist the commission
headed by Arvind Virmani.
Note: The role and functions of the council will be to
advise the commission on any issue or subject related to
the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the Commission.

12. As per latest Grant Thornton’s International Business
Report (IBR), India’s rank 6th on the Global Optimism
Index (GOI) in the first quarter of 2018.
Note: The report says the business optimism in India has
deteriorated while entering the last year of the current
regime. Austria topped the index followed by Finland,
Indonesia, the Netherlands, and the US.The report was
prepared on a quarterly global business survey of 2,500
businesses in 37 economies

13. According to Credit rating agency ‘Fitch’, India’s
economic growth 7.3% will accelerate in the current
financial year.
Note: The growth rate will accelerate as money supply
has recovered to its pre-demonetization level and
disruptions related to the rollout of GST have diminished.
Fitch Ratings Inc. is one of the big three credit rating
agencies (other two -Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s).
Fitch Ratings is dual-headquartered in New York (US) and
London(UK).

14. According to the ‘RemitSCOPE’ report, India became the
largest remittance-receiving country in the world in 2017
Note: India has become the largest remittance-receiving
country in the world in 2017, with migrant workers from
the country sending home 69 billion US dollars.

15. The Government of India signed a loan deal worth with
the World Bank for the National Nutrition Mission
(POSHAN Abhiyaan) ___ USD 200 million.
Note: The loan would help the Government of India in
achieving its goal of reducing stunting in children 0-6
years of age from 38.4% to 25% by the year 2022.
POSHAN Abhiyaan was launched by the Prime Minister
Narendra Modi in March this year.

16. The Indian Railways will spend Rs. 5,000 crores on
modernizing 68 major stations for the redevelopment
project.
Note: The stations to be upgraded include Pune,
Bengaluru, New Delhi, Shimla, Mathura, Valsad, Ambala,

17. Chinese bank Industrial and Commercial Bank of
China (ICBC) has launched the country’s first Indiadedicated
publicly offered investment fund for investing
in India__
Note: The ICBC Credit Suisse India Market Fund will
invest in exchange-traded funds listed on more than 20
exchanges in Europe and the US that are based on the
Indian market. The fund will invest in the future of the
Indian economy and track the distribution of the
industrial structure across the Indian market.

18. According to data released by the Commerce Ministry,
Inflation based on Wholesale Price Index (WPI) in April —
3.18%.
Note: Inflation in food articles was at 0.87% in April
2018, as against a deflation of 0.29% in the preceding
month. The Wholesale Price Index focuses on the price of
goods traded between corporations, rather than goods
bought by consumers, which is measured by the
Consumer Price Index.The purpose of the WPI is to
monitor price movements that reflect supply and demand
in industry, manufacturing,and construction.

19. The Punjab National Bank (PNB) has posted largest
ever quarterly loss of Rs 13,416.91 crore for JanuaryMarch
period, mainly due to high provisioning for bad
loans.
Note: The bank had reported a staggering standalone
profit of Rs. 261.90 crore in the fourth quarter of 2016-
17.Total income for the fourth quarter also declined to Rs
12,945.68 crore from Rs. 14,989.33 crores in the year-ago
period.

20. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a penalty of
Rs. 50,000 on Universal Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd,
Mancherial, West Bengal with respect to violations on
loans and advances.
Note: The Cooperative Bank had violated its directive and
guidelines on loans and advances to directors and their
relatives.

21. The Reserve Bank has advanced the meeting of the
Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) on 4th June this year.
Note: It is for the first time that the MPC will meet for
three days instead of the usual two. Now, the Second Bimonthly
Monetary Policy meeting for 2018-19 will be

1. आई.सी.आई.सी.आई बैंक बोडण ने पांच वर्ण के ललए बैंक के अतिररक् ि (स्विंत्र) तनदेशक के रूप में राधाकृष् णन नायर को तनयुक् ि ककया है।
नोट: आई.सी.आई.सी.आई बैंक के अनुसार, उनकी तनयुक्क् ि शेयरधारकों की मंजूरी का प्रवर्य है।श्री नायर बैंक की िीन सहायक कंपतनयों ‘आई.सी.आई.सी.आई िूडेंलशयल लाइफ इंश्योरेंस कंपनी’, ‘आई.सी.आई.सी.आई िूडेंलशयल ट्रस्ट’ और ‘आई.सी.आई.सी.आई लसक्योररटीज िाइमरी डीलरलशप’ के स्विंत्र तनदेशक भी हैं।

 

2. भारतीय प्रततभूतत एवं ववतनमय बोडड (सेबी) ने प्रवदेशी प्रवदेशी पोटणफोललयो तनवेशकों (एफ.पी.आई) के जोखिम आधाररि ‘अपने ग्राहक को जानो’ (के.वाई.सी) दस्िावेज के ललए प्रवस्िृि फ्रेमवकण का अनावरर् ककया।
नोट: एक कंपनी के रूप में संरचचि एफ.पी.आई में, 25% हहस्सेदारी रिने वाले व्यक्क् ि को लाभकारी माललक (beneficial owner (BO)) माना जाएगा।यहद यह एक उच्च जोखिम वाले क्षेत्राचधकार उत् पन् न करिी है, िो ऐसे एफ.पी.आई में 10% या उससे अचधक हहस्सेदारी वाले व् यक्क् ि को को बी.ओ माना जाएगा।ऐसे क्षेत्राचधकारों के सभी तनवेशकों को श्रेर्ी-3 एफ.पी.आई के ललए के.वाई.सी की आवश्यकिा का पालन करना होगा।

 

3. ग्लोबल कंसल्टेंसी फमण ए.टी. केनी के एफ.डी.आई कॉक्न्फडेंस इंडेक्स 2018 में भारि िीन पायदान कफसलकर 11 वें स्थान पर पहुंच गया।

नोट: अमेररका तनवेश के इरादे के साथ शीर्ण स्थान पर रहा, जबकक कनाडा दूसरे और जमणनी िीसरे स्थान पर रहे।वर्ण 2015 के बाद से भारि पहली बार शीर्ड 10 से बाहर हुआ है।

 

4. 15 वें प्रवत् ि आयोग के पूर्णकाललक सदस्य के रूप में तनयुक् ि ककए गए भूिपूवण मुख्य आचथणक सलाहकार अशोक लाहिडी िै।
नोट: नवंबर, 2017 में, भारत के पंद्रिवें ववत् त आयोग (XV-FC) का गठन 1 अिैल, 2020 से शुरू होने वाले पांच प्रवत् िीय वर्ों के ललए लसफाररशें देने हेिु ककया गया था।आयोग का मुख्य कायण “सहकारी संघवाद को मजबूि करना, सावणजतनक िचण की गुर्वत् िा में सुधार करना और प्रवत् िीय क्स्थरिा के संरक्षर् में मदद करना था”।

 

5. साकण प्रवत् ि मंत्रत्रयों की 12 वीं अनौपचाररक बैठक मनीला, किलीपींस में आयोक्जि की गई।
नोट: बैठक में साकण सदस्य देशों के प्रवत्त मंत्रत्रयों / ितितनचधमंडल के िमुिों ने भाग ललया।प्रवत्त मंत्रत्रयों / ितितनचधमंडल के िमुिों ने बैठक को अपने देशों द्वारा िाप्ि की गई आचथणक िगति की विणमान क्स्थति के बारे में अवगि कराया।

 

6. ई.पी.एफ.ओ ने उमंग ऐप के माध्यम से ‘व्यू पेंशन पासबुक’ सेवा पेश की।
नोट:’पासबुक देिें’ (व् यू पासबुक) प्रवकल्प पर क्क्लक करने के बाद, इसमें पेंशनभोगी द्वारा पी.पी.अफ संख्या और जन् मतिचथ दजण करने की आवश्यकिा होिी है।प्रवत् िीय वर्ण के आधार पर पूर्ण पास बुक प्रववरर् डाउनलोड करने की सुप्रवधा भी उपलब्ध है।

 

7. कोटक महहंद्रा बैंक के िबंध तनदेशक (एम.डी) और मुख्य कायणकारी अचधकारी (सी.ई.ओ) के रूप में उदय कोटक को नालमि ककया गया।
नोट: इससे पहले श्री कोटक कायणकारी उपाध्यक्ष और िबंध तनदेशक (एम.डी) थे। कोटक महहंद्रा बैंक एक भारिीय तनजी क्षेत्र का बैंक है, क्जसका मुख् यालय भारि के महाराष्‍ट ट्र क्स् थि मुंबई में है। भारिीय ररजवण बैंक (आर.बी.आई) ने कोटक महहंद्रा फाइनेंस लललमटेड को फरवरी, 2003 में बैंककंग व्यवसाय आरंभ करने के ललए लाइसेंस हदया था।

8. एलशयाई प्रवकास बैंक (ए.डी.बी) ने भारि को वर्ण 2018-19 में 7.3% ितिशि से प्रवकास करने वाला सबसे िेजी से बढ़िा एलशयाई राष्‍ट ट्र होने का अनुमान लगाया है।

 

9. अंिराणष्‍ट ट्रीय मुद्रा कोर् (आई.एम.एफ) के अनुसार, भारि वर्ण 2018 में 7.4% ितिशि की प्रवकास दर के साथ सबसे िेजी से बढ़िी अथणव्यवस्था होगी।
नोट:आई.एम.एफ की एलशया एवं िशांि क्षेत्रीय आचथणक आउटलुक ररपोटण के अनुसार, भारि प्रवमुद्रीकरर् के िभावों और माल एवं सेवा कर (जी.एस.टी) के लागू हाने के बाद से उभर रहा है।वसूली अल् पकाललक झटकों के साथ-साथ मजबूि तनजी िपि के माध् यम से ितिक्षेप द्वारा कम की जा सकिी है।

 

10. अमेररकी िुदरा कंपनी वॉलमाटड ने भारि के सबसे बडे ई-कॉमसण स्टाटणअप ‘क्ललपकाटण’ में 16 त्रबललयन अमेररकी डॉलर में 77% तनर्ाणयक शेयर िरीदेगी।
नोट: यह देश का सबसे बडा अचधग्रहर् और प्रवश् व में ई-कॉमसण कंपनी की सबसे बडी िरीद होगी।यह अचधग्रहर् देश का सबसे बडा अचधग्रहर् होगा और 20.8 त्रबललयन अमेररकी डॉलर (वोडाफोन-आइडडया प्रवलय 23 त्रबललयन अमेररकी डॉलर) की बडी रालश में प्रवश् व में ई-कॉमसण कंपनी की सबसे बडी िरीद होगी।अमेररकी बहु-राष्‍ट ट्रीय िुदरा
