CSIR SO ASO Selection Process 2023
The selection for the Section Officer (SO) and Assistant Section Officer (ASO) for CSIR will be based in two stages i.e. Stage 1 and Stage 2.
Stage 1: Online Examination for both Posts
Stage 2: Interview for SO and CPT for ASO
CSIR Exam Pattern 2023
The CSIR Exam Pattern 2023 is explained below through table, for the selection of Section Officer as well as the Assistant Section Officer. Candidates can refer to the below table for the exam pattern.
- Papers 1, 2, and 3 are common and compulsory for all the posts, and the Interview and Computer Proficiency Test will be conducted for those who will qualify all the three papers.
- All the papers will be bilingual (English & Hindi) except English Only

CSIR SO ASO Exam Pattern 2023 for Paper 1
The CSIR Exam Paper 1 has a section of General Awareness and English & Comprehension. In this part, questions are of objective type, each carrying one mark. For every incorrect answer, a negative marking of 0.33 marks is applied. The total marks for this paper are 100, and the duration for the exam is 2 hours.

CSIR SO ASO Exam Pattern 2023 for Paper 2
The CSIR Exam Pattern 2023 for Paper 2 consists of 200 Objective type questions of General Intelligence, Reasoning, and Mental Ability, of 1 mark each. There will be 0.33 marks negative for every incorrect answer. The time duration for this paper will be 150 minutes.

The CSIR SO and ASO exam Paper 3 is of descriptive type (English/Hindi). This paper will be of total 150 marks. There will be Essay, Precis, and Letter/Application Writing in the paper 3. The total Time Duration will be of 120 minutes.
