Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India  invited online applications for the recruitment of  Joint Secretary through lateral recruitment. Eligible candidates can apply for the post in the prescribed format on or before 30 July 2018.

 

Government of India has decided to invite talented and motivated Indian nationals willing to contribute towards nation building to join the Government at the level of Joint Secretary. The proposal of lateral entry is aimed at bringing in fresh ideas and new approaches to governance and also to augment manpower. Candidates who have expertise in specific areas of Revenue, Financial Services, Economic Affairs, Agriculture, Road Transport & Highways, Shipping, Environment & Forests, New & Renewable Energy, Civil Aviation and Commerce and fulfill the eligibility criteria may apply for specific posts mentioned in the advertisement

 

A Joint Secretary is the head of the wing under the charge of Secretary of the Ministry/ Department and he/she reports to Additional Secretary/ Secretary. Joint Secretaries are at a crucial level of senior management in the Government of India. They lead policy making as well as implementation of various programmes and schemes of the Department.

Current Affairs 2018 English: AFSPA removed from Meghalaya (May 1st week)
The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) was completely removed from Meghalaya and some areas of Arunachal Pradesh with effect from April 1, 2018. The act gives unrestricted and unaccounted power to the armed forces to maintain public order in “disturbed areas”. It was first applied to the north-eastern states of Assam and Manipur in September 1958 and was amended in 1972 to extend to all the seven sisters including Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura.

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidate should be graduated from a recognized University/Institute. Higher qualifications would be an added advantage

 Eligibility – The following are eligible to apply:

  • Officers of any State/UT Government who are already working at equivalent level or are eligible for appointment to equivalent level in their cadre, with relevant experience
  • 15 Years of experience at comparable levels in Public, Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Autonomous Bodies, Statutory Organisations, Universities, Recognized Research Institutes

Age Limit:

40 years
